Big Passes, Failures For Busy Lame Duck Congress

Congress has been unusually productive during the current lame duck session, overturning Don't Ask, Don't Tell -- the ban against openly gay men and women serving in the military -- and passing an $858 billion tax cut bill aimed at boosting a struggling economy. However, The Dream Act -- which would have cleared the way for legalizing young undocumented immigrants who arrived in the country before the age of 16, lived here continuously for at least five years, and who either go to college or enlist in the U.S. Armed Forces -- failed.
