Seventeen U.S veterans have launched a class-action lawsuit against Defense Secretary Robert Gates and his predecessor, Donald Rumsfeld. They say that the Pentagon failed to investigate reported incidents of rape and sexual abuse, and that some victims to work alongside their alleged attackers. Plaintiff Panayiota Bertzikis says her 2006 rape charge against a fellow Coast Guard member was never investigated by her superiors. Host Michel Martin speaks with Bertzikis, who is now executive director of an organization called the Military Rape Crisis Center. Be advised, this conversation is not suitable for all listeners.
